I’d like to point out that the same qualities he exhibited in discipling them, are also important if you want to be an effective parent.  Children need to see integrity in your life.  Mothers need to make time to intimately love and care for each of their children.  They need to know they are ready to share their life with them, and even sacrifice for their benefit.  Fathers need to demonstrate an intensity of commitment to their children, modeling a life of holiness and righteousness, being blameless in their eyes.  Encourage, comfort and urge them to follow your example. 

As parents, know where your kids are in their faith journey.  Be informed about the things they’re facing in their environment.  When they experience rough times, be there to encourage.  When you see they are not aware of dangers ahead, prepare them so they will be able to overcome the enemy or obstacles.  Help them see opportunities, and equip and empower them to make the most of their opportunities. 

Also, let them know how much they mean to you.  Inspire them by telling them they will be your joy and crown when Christ returns.  Affirm them by sharing your confidence that they will succeed and that you are proud and filled with joy as you anticipate their success.
