We’ve been doing a study on the names and titles of Jesus as found in the Gospel of John. After collecting the names and reflecting on what they tell us about Jesus we correlated them into an outline. The title, Experiencing Abundant Life Through Christ. Four points: Acknowledge Who He is, Accept what He’s done, Trust Him to be what He wants to be in your life, and Expect Him to make you the person He wants you to be.
The third step in doing this kind of study is to crystallize what you’ve learned into some applications you can make to your own life. The first application is based on the reason why John wrote his Gospel. John 20:31 says, “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
Make sure you’ve accepted Jesus Christ by faith as your Savior and Lord. If you haven’t taken that step you can do so now by praying with me: “Lord, thank you for loving me enough to die for my sins. I invite you, as the risen Savior, to come into my life and save me. Make me the person you want me to be. Amen.” Let me know if you take this step of faith.
A second application: get familiar with what His names and titles tell you about Who He is, what He has done, and what He wants to do for you and in you. It would also be enriching to your spirit to use His names and titles as a basis for worshipping Him. Finally, share with others what He has come to mean to you, so He can touch their lives as well.
