Now to him who is able to establish you. (Romans 16:25)
If you’re going through a time of transition I’m sure you have experienced opposition of one sort or another. Overcoming such opposition can be a real challenge especially while going through a time of transition. As we continue our study in Romans 16, Paul not only shares where the opposition comes from, he spells out God’s provision and promise to overcome opposition.
There are three wonderful provisions and promises he wants you to know about: God’s ability, God’s grace and God’s availability.
He writes in verse 25 that God “is able to establish you.” That is, He has the ability to strengthen and stabilize you as you go through transition in an unstable and unpredictable world. He is able because He is wise and powerful. Paul refers to Him as “the only wise God.” (Romans 16:27) His wisdom is infinite. He is omniscient! Nothing in your life is hidden to Him. Whatever opposition you face, God knows all about it and is able to keep you and establish you in the face of it. In fact, He often does His best work in your life during such times, because you are more prone to listen and trust in Him when in transition and under attack.
In addition, you don’t need to worry about God’s power. He is omnipotent! He is able to crush Satan himself under your feet as a believer. Notice – you don’t crush Satan under your feet. God crushes him. Also note that it is the God of peace who crushes Satan. He doesn’t need to get all worked up to do it. He remains at peace while doing it!
Knowing the all sufficient God is with you should calm your nerves and fill you with inner peace.
