As we come to the end of 2008 and anticipate the opportunities and challenges of the New Year, 2009, I would like to leave a challenge with you. Take some time to reflect on all you have experienced during the past two years as we read through the Bible. Try identifying a few positive experiences you’ve had during this journey. Think of ways God blessed you, provided for you, or used you. Think of answers to prayer.
After you have written down those positive things take some time to deliberately and gladly thank God. You might also want to call or jot a note to someone who has been used of God to bless you. Or call or write a note to someone you have helped, just to see how he or she is doing.
Then I would like for you to prayerfully think about the year ahead of us. Ask God to show you something you can do that will please Him. Think of ways you will need to prepare to make the most of your efforts. I plan to review again the various reading and study helps that I have shared on this program over the years. I hope I can encourage you to continue reading and studying the Bible, so that you will be an approved Christian, rightly dividing the Word of God and prepared to do anything God might ask of you.
I’d be happy to send you a copy of a booklet I’ve prepared to help you in your Bible reading and study. You can ask for it here on my website as well as order my books, Light in the Night for Living in the Day, and You Can Make Things Happen.
