Many of you listen to this program daily. Maybe you have never heard this program before and just happen to be listening today. What Paul says in 2 Corinthians 6:2 is very important.
He first quotes from the Old Testament book of Isaiah, chapter 49, verse 8, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” God heard and helped. Would you allow me to share something of great importance with you in the next few moments? Then Paul declares, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” During the time of God’s favor He is listening. In the day of salvation He is ready to help.
Paul says, “Now is the time of God’s favor.” God is listening now. What’s He listening for? He is listening for those in need to cry out to Him. Paul goes on to say, “Now is the day of salvation.” God is ready to help now. Who will He help? He will help the one who is in need of salvation.
In chapter 5 Paul talked about pleading with people to be reconciled to God by trusting in Jesus Christ. He explained how this happens in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “God made Him, Jesus Christ, who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Christ died for your sins so you could be forgiven. This is God’s favor. He is now waiting for you to say, “God, I need that forgiveness.” This is God’s salvation, and He is now ready to help you if you turn to Jesus and say, “I want Jesus Christ to be my Savior.”
Don’t put this decision off. Now is the right time for you.
