In our last visit we reviewed what the Bible says to us about the indescribable gift God has given to all who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. Notice, that I said we discovered what God has given us by studying the Bible. The Bible, indeed, is also a wonderful gift that God has given us.
Have you really opened up your heart and mind to receive what God has said in His Word, the Bible? Have you made time to read it and reflect on what it says? Have you prayed for God to give you a hunger for it and a readiness to understand and obey it?
This gift of God to us is a priceless treasure. Are you hiding it in your heart, as the Psalmist encourages us to do?
Paul, in writing to Timothy reminds Him in 2 Timothy 3:15-17. “How from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
This gift of learning the Holy Scriptures from his mother and grandmother was a gift from God. If you have grown up in a home where the Bible was read and studied you have been greatly blessed. Have you built upon that foundation?
If the Bible is new to you, let me encourage you to read and study it diligently. It will not only make you wise unto salvation, but will equip you for doing every good work. And if you want help in studying it write me for some literature.
