Paul went to see them, and because he was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them.  (Acts 18:3)

It's always helpful to see something you're working on get accomplished.  It will provide encouragement to keep going.  If you are really bogged down while in transition or while experiencing delays try tackling a task that is easy or routine.  Any accomplishment is better than nothing.

Paul needed a break from the rigors of pioneer work.  Encouraging fellow believers and teaching what would help them grow was what he chose to do.  In addition he shared a need the poor believers in Israel had and was able to raise money among the churches of Greece and Macedonia to help meet this need.  Delivering this offering was a measurable objective he was able to accomplish.  He knew this love gift would be pleasing to God.

Are you presently tackling a task you know is pleasing to God and helpful to others?  Accomplishing it will help you keep on going while in transition or during times of delay or frustration.

The apostle Paul often referred to making tents, a trade he had learned while still at home.  This gave him a change of pace.  It also provided needed support to meet his material needs and those of his ministry companion.

Not surprisingly it was during one of these periods of tent making that he met up with Priscilla and Aquila who became very good friends and fellow workers.  He refers to them in Romans 16:3, "Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus.  They risked their lives for me.  Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them."

Sometimes our seemingly insignificant activities turn out to be significant in the scheme of things.
