We have been doing an inductive study of the 9th chapter of John. We started by observing what is described in the chapter. Then we worked at interpreting what we had observed. Now we come to the third step in the inductive Bible study. What difference should what I have learned make in my life?

The first thing I noticed is that Jesus is the light of the world. He is the source of spiritual enlightenment. He gave physical light to the man born blind. Then He gave him spiritual light as he believed in Him. I too must turn to Jesus Christ and trust in Him if I want to receive spiritual light and life. That is foundational.

Until I take that step all else is in vain. Pray as the healed man did, “Lord, I believe in You.” I took that step of faith many years ago and have not been disappointed. Let me know if you take that step so I can praise God with you.   I’ll send you some literature that will help you in your new relationship with Jesus Christ.

The second application that can be drawn from this man’s example is to be ready to share what Jesus Christ has done for you. You might not know much, but if your life has been changed, just share what you have experienced. Our responsibility is to share, not to convert others. No one responded to this man’s testimony, but I believe Jesus was pleased with his faithfulness.

In addition to your own testimony, the more you can learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ the better. Peter encouraged us in 1 Peter 3:15 to be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks us a reason for the hope that is within us.
