In our last visit we were doing a word study of the word “transformed” found in Romans 12:2 and in Matthew 17:2.  Understanding what the word means – what is inwardly true of a person is outwardly manifest – provides insight into the meaning of what is being taught in the portion where it is found.

The same word we’ve been studying, “transformed,” is used in 2nd Corinthians 3:18.  There the picture is of a Christian looking into the mirror of God’s Word, the Bible, seeing the revelation or reflection of God’s glory.  As the Holy Spirit works in the process, what you expose yourself to while reading or hearing God’s Word He internalizes and then works out in your life.  In this way He works in us from the inside out.  The result of this is that you will be “transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory.”

When you as a Christian meditate on God’s Word the Holy Spirit will take what is true in your innermost being and begin to cause it to show in your outward appearance and actions.  Knowing the meaning of the word “transformed” helps you understand the meaning of what is said in this text.  It is an insight word.

If you don’t understand a key word in a verse or portion of Scripture get a dictionary or word study book and find out what it means.  It very well might help you to get the message and experience its truth.  The spiritual dynamic of all this will become obvious to others and impact many to consider the truth exemplified in your life.
