The focal point of the Book of Revelation is Jesus Christ.  In our previous studies we’ve looked at some titles and descriptions of Jesus in the book of Revelation.  To each church mentioned in chapters 2 & 3 He reveals something about Himself as described in the encounter John had with Christ in chapter one that relates to the condition of the church.

To the church in Thyatira He is seen as “the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze…he who searches hearts and minds.”  With penetrating gaze He knows what’s in hearts and minds, the motives and actions of the members of each church.

Christ is revealed as the righteous judge and rewarder of the faithful.  Believers, therefore, are encouraged to “hold on to what you have until I come.”

He is again referred to as the one who holds the sevenfold Spirit of God and the seven stars, when He addresses the church of Sardis in chapter 3.  They had a great reputation as being a church that is alive, but what Jesus knew was that they were spiritually dead.  They needed the Spirit to quicken them and the pastor needed encouragement to stay true, along with the few who were faithful and uncompromised.

The promise He gave the faithful is, they will walk with him dressed in white, for they are worthy.  He assures them that He will personally vouch for them before the heavenly Father.  It surely pays to stay true and uncompromised as a Christian.
