The last book of the Bible is best identified by the opening words, “The revelation of Jesus Christ.”  If you find the book hard to understand I’d encourage you to look for the various names and descriptions given to Jesus Christ.  Meditate on these.  Ask yourself, “How can the names and descriptions of Jesus Christ enrich and benefit me as I face daily challenges?”

Then listen to verse 3 of chapter 1, “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”  God promises to bless you if you read this book.  It doesn’t say, if you understand it.  Just read it.  It also says He’ll bless you if you hear it read.  Again, it doesn’t qualify the blessing by requiring you to understand it.  Just listen.

Those are two disciplines I’d like you to remember as we come to the close of our project to read through the Bible in two years.  Read and listen.  Read and listen. Jesus Christ will shine forth from the pages of this book as you read and listen.

You’ll read about sin, rebellion, judgment, the devil and hell.  But intermixed you will see the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Pray before you read and search for every reference to Jesus Christ.  Meditate on what it says.  Listen to what He says.  Then pray you’ll live in a way that you’ll be ready to meet Him when He comes for His own.

We’ll do studies as we read through this book. I trust they’ll be helpful.
