In Ezekiel, chapter 18, verses 4 & 20 God says two times, “The soul who sins is the one who will die.”  I want you to take this Impact Statement seriously!  Don’t blame others for the consequences of your sins.  Don’t blame it on your parents; or if you are a parent, don’t blame it on your children.  You are responsible for how you live your life.  God holds you accountable to Him.  If you think you’re getting away with sin for now, beware.  God says, “Behold, your sin will find you out.”

If you sin, and all of us do, then the sentence of death already hangs over your head.  But if we confess our sin and our need for a Savior, and turn to Jesus by faith, we receive the gift of forgiveness and Eternal Life.  Remember, two times in Ezekiel 18, you have this impact statement, “The soul who sins is the one who will die.”  This is God’s warning to us!

Jeremiah said, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.”  Ezekiel says that since we’re all sinners, we need to recognize a death sentence hangs over us.  God calls us to “Repent!  Turn away from all your offenses…Rid yourself of all the offenses…get a new heart and a new spirit.  Why will you die…I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord.  Repent and live” (verses 30-32).

Praise God, He sent the Lord Jesus, to take the death sentence on the cross for us.  He died for our sins so we might have life.  Turn to Him, repent, trust in Him, and live, today, and forever!
