As we read the opening verses of Isaiah, did you notice verse 18 of chapter one?  God gives this appeal: “Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”  Let’s do a “4S” (step) study of this verse.

Start by taking the material and spread it out.  Listen to it - “come,” that is an invitation, “now” - that’s urgency, “us” - speaks of God and you, “reason” - talk with each other.  God is speaking, saying you are a sinner, your sins are as scarlet, but they can become as white as snow.  They are like crimson, but they can become as wool.

Now sort this information.  You have the problem; man’s sin.  You have the solution; talk to God.  He wants to reason with you.  He’s given you an invitation to come to Him.  And then you have the result of one who sits down with God, opens up his heart to Him and allows God to speak to him.  When you do this the result is cleansing, purifying and making new.

Structure this now into an outline: the problem, the solution and the result.  Then amplify each point using all the information you found in the verse.

When that’s done summarize what you’ve discovered into some applications.  God knows what He’s getting into when He extends His invitation to you.  He can handle your sin problem.  Talk to Him; trust in Him and then thank Him for His forgiving grace.  You will not be disappointed if you do this.  That’s God’s promise.
