Since the beginning of this year we’ve read and studied the historical books of the Old Testament, Genesis through Esther, and two Gospels, Matthew and Mark.  We are well on our way toward reading through the Bible in two years.  Remember, to read through the Bible in two years you need to read about two chapters per day.

Today we’ll start looking at the Poetical books of the Old Testament, Job through the Song of Solomon.  God’s love is always at work.  No matter what you’re experiencing, God’s love is seeking to bring you through and make you a better person.  He doesn’t promise a bed of ease.  Purging involves fire.  Strengthening involves tension.  Understanding involves effort.  God’s love for us makes Him desire and design these experiences for our enrichment.

To walk with Job through his trials and interaction with his friends is enlightening—it helps us see why we may suffer.  The Psalmist shows us how to experience God’s love through sorrow, rejection and hardship.  Proverbs and Ecclesiastes tell us how God’s love can be enjoyed in the dry, daily routine of life.  The Song of Solomon expresses God’s love expressed and enjoyed in the intimacy of marriage.

Sometimes God’s love might seem to us like hatred because of the difficulties He allows to come our way.  The final result, however, always confirms the true nature and power of God’s love.  Learn always to trust in God’s love.  It will help you triumph in life.
