Let me continue to unpack my thoughts based on the phrase in 2nd Peter 1:3, “through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” Consider the couplet: Jesus Christ is unlimited in His power and understanding in His compassion. The Bible says there is nothing impossible with God. He is omnipotent. Jesus demonstrated his power over illness, demons and nature. John 1:3 says, “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” Paul declared, “By him all things were created…He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16-17). This truth of infinite power and strength can be intimidating. But he wants us to come to him and trust in him. Psalm 103:13-14 says, “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” Many say that God has more important, bigger things to deal with than their problems. This is not true. God understands what you’re going through and has compassion for you. Paul encourages us to stop being anxious, “but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). Did you catch the phrase, “in everything”? He can handle it, and will. Isn’t it great to know him?
