As we come to the close of this year my prayer is that you will experience God’s love through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in His grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul’s prayer in Philippians 3:10, close to the end of his life, was that he might know Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death. For that to become a reality he was ready to follow this discipline: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). Let me encourage you to renew your commitment to meditate on God’s Word, the Bible, night and day, as the Psalmist encouraged in Psalm 1:2. This will involve a regimen of reading the Bible, studying the Bible and even memorizing the Bible.
To encourage you in this I would like for you to consider a challenge. That is to read the Bible through over the next two years. This will require, on average, for you to read about 2 chapters a day. This would also give you time to stop and study anything you come across in your reading that interests you.
