As I mentioned in our last visit, the Bible is a wonderful gift from God. God uses His word to make people wise unto salvation, that is, as you study it you will come to understand how to be saved.
Once people take that step of faith they need to grow in their new life. To provide for that, God established the church, a gift that every believer needs. If you are not involved in a church let me encourage you to get involved.
At the point you receive Jesus Christ you become a member of Christ’s church. This is how Paul puts it in 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body – whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.”
We need to pray for and encourage one another to not forsake getting together as Christians. In Hebrews 10:25 it points out that there is a tendency on the part of many to neglect the fellowship of believers. The church is a gift to be received and participated in. You need the church and the church needs you.
Pray also that there would be a revival of interest in Bible study in our churches. Sadly, the church is to a great degree biblically ignorant. Ask God to teach you. Then open the Bible and start reading. Take time to reflect on what you read. Apply any insight you gain to your life. Share what you have learned with others. This will help you and them to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
