In our last visit we began doing a “four S” study of Matthew 24-25 by spreading out some of what we found in the opening verses. I encouraged you to take time to write out what you find in the rest of these two chapters. I know this seems tedious but it is important to spread it out before you, like you’d do in the first stage of doing a picture puzzle. This will help you identify some things mentioned that are similar so you can sort the information into groups.

When I did this I sorted the information under three questions: 1. What to watch for? 2. How to prepare for coping effectively? 3. What are the outcomes of our responses – for the faithful and for the unfaithful? You could add a further question: What do you learn about Jesus in these two chapters and the surrounding chapters we earlier reviewed to discover the context for all of this?

Once you put into groups the information you found in these chapters you will be ready to structure an outline. When I did this I came up with the following outline.

For the title I put down: Are You Ready for That Day?   Under that title I put a sub-title: That Day could be any day, but for sure there is an ultimate Day of the Lord.

1. Recognize the signs.
2. Ready yourself for the crisis.
3. Remind yourself of the promises.
4. Remember the one who shared this information.

As you reflect further on what you’ve discovered in these chapters amplify these main points with supporting sub points. From this outline summarize or develop some applications.
