In our last visit I pointed out that in Acts 10 we have two truths I wanted to share with you. The first is that God always responds in grace to the genuine seeking heart. If someone never hears about Jesus Christ, but recognizes there is someone behind what has been created and seeks to discover who that is, God will give them more light. If they continue to follow the light God progressively gives, God ultimately will present them with truth about Jesus Christ as Savior. That’s what happened to Cornelius.

The second truth is illustrated by what Cornelius said to Peter after they were introduced. Acts 10:33 says, “Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.”

This describes an ideal mind-set whenever God’s people gather together: a recognition that we’re in God’s presence with an openness to listen intently to “everything the Lord has commanded” the preacher/teacher to tell us. It also involves a preacher/teacher who’s prepared to tell everything God wants him to say.

When I come to a service prepared in heart and mind with a message God gave me, these words would be music to my ears – “Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.”

Does this describe what happens when your church gathers? Does this describe the readiness of your heart?   Pray that the next time your church gathers they’d experience what’s described here in Acts 10.
