As we come to the end of our study of Isaiah 55 I want us to grasp the glorious outcome when all we have studied in this chapter is followed.

When we come to God, listen to what He says in His Word and respond in obedience and faith listen to the outcome, as described in verses 12-13: “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst in song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn-bush will grow the pine tree, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, which will not be destroyed.”

This is where joy and peace are to be found and experienced. This is where excitement is so contagious you even find your natural surroundings joining in a song of praise.  Nothing worldly can produce this outcome. And it’s not temporary or short lived. It is an everlasting sign that “will be for the Lord’s renown.” Only what God initiates, provides for and accomplishes can bring Him renown. That is the ultimate outcome: God’s honor and renown.

Those who have the privilege of proclaiming this message need to keep this in mind. Those who respond to this message and enjoy the abundant blessings that result in their lives need to keep this in mind. God’s honor. God’s renown. This is the objective that should drive and direct us. This is the outcome we should be praying and looking for.

It is exciting and fulfilling to be a part of all of this, but we should never allow anything to take away from God’s honor and renown.
