We were discussing Psalm 1 in our last visit and discovered the secret of being blessed by getting wise, godly counsel. That kind of counsel can be found in God’s Word, the Bible.
When you begin to study God’s Word and discover guidelines for living in a way that honors God you will be faced with some tough decisions. To obey God’s counsel often involves living your life cross culturally. And that often will evoke the accusation that you are intolerant as has been redefined by our contemporary culture.
All of us want to belong, to be accepted by those around us. But if those around you are living in spiritual darkness, you as a child of light will expose the thinking and deeds of darkness. That often creates antagonism from others. But God promises to bless such a life. And when He does, you will begin to find delight in reading and meditating on God’s Word.
You will make time to do this, even during the night. It will become your food and drink. It will refresh like being planted by streams of water and refine you like when a tree is pruned. You will become fruitful. You will become attractive. You will prosper in whatever you do. The Lord will watch over your going and coming. You will become a source of inspiration and insight for those who are seeking truth. You will be truly blessed.
No wonder Paul declares: “All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
